The Need - Affordable Housing
Studies show there is a shortage of over 7 million affordable homes nationwide and more than 40% of Americans struggle to acquire efficient residences. According to the 2023 Georgia Housing Needs Assessment Report the state's housing inventory is insufficient for ALL income levels and cannot expand fast enough to meet increasing demands. There are many cause-and-effect forces at the root of this plaguing issue.
3 Examples:
* The increase in land and building costs has greatly slowed the construction of new homes.
* The cost of living keeps inching higher and higher, while wages remain the same.
* High interest rates v/s low inventory.
To say there is an urgent need for adequate affordable housing is a blatant understatement!

Filling the Need
Founded in 2020, the Urban revitalization Group is a recognized 501(c)3 tax-exempt nonprofit organization deeply committed to being a pathway to efficient, affordable housing and homeownership. Our very first project, The Roy Lee Williams Complex located in Vidalia, Georgia is proof of our dedication to filling this need!
The portion of Fifth Avenue where the complex is was an entire block of rundown shotgun-style houses desperately in need of revitalization. Nearly all of the ten dwellings were uninhabitable requiring extensive restoration. Today eight of the ten houses have either been completely renovated or newly constructed. These homes have tank-less water heaters, HVAC units, storm windows, metal or asphalt shingle roofing, concrete driveways and so many more amenities. The Urban Revitalization Group is beyond excited to announce that this past February our very 1st tenant completed our financial proficiency program and is now a proud HOMEOWNER! Yes, HOMEOWNER! Evidence that with dedication and diligence it is indeed possible to have your C.A.K.E. and eat it too! We stand confident that U.R.G. homeowners can sustain their residences because upon completion of our program they have Created a solid financial foundation, mastered Accountability, maintained Key performance indicators, met Eligibility requirements, and have obtained the Education basics to retain possession of their homes after closing.
